Non-Traditional Career Path Story

Non-Traditional Career Path Story

My career path hasn't been traditional, but every step has shaped who I am today.

During the Great Recession, I worked at temporary agencies, building a foundation that later helped me land a Unit Secretary role at a South Florida hospital in 2012. While I loved the position, workplace stress and management challenges led me to leave after 6 ½ years.

In November 2020, I joined an Insurance Agency doing Insurance Verification. The role played to my strengths—I caught on quickly, helped clear a backlog, and earned more than I ever had before.

With things finally falling into place, I set my sights on getting my 4-40 license—a stepping stone toward my ultimate goal of selling health or supplemental insurance. For the first time, I wasn't just holding a job. I was building a career.
